Reading the cPanel documentation:
cPanel comes in two standard themes:
- Default
- Iconic
- Blue Lagoon
(Yes. I know there are three here :) )

Your hosting provider may allow you to change between these two themes.

I had a look in WHM but I have no idea how to do it. Any idea on how to allow users to change their own theme?

The documentation is for cPanel 4 . No update for cPanel 5 ?

To my knowledge users can't choose. It can be done in WHM. However, bluelagoon is the only one I would consider worth using.

Why? The default theme is recommended in the cPanel documentation. Pages are loading faster and the features are the same.

Nah BlueLagoon has everything laid out on one page, where as the other two you have all those graphics to load.

It's nice to see them all instead of having to go hunting for what you want :D

When I look at WHM (using my ip 'cause url doesn't resolve yet) I find seven choices. None of the choices are "blue lagoon". There is a "blue" and a "blue tree". Looking in CPanel, I don't see a skin option at all.

Also, would one or two of you "more knowlegable types" please give me an overview of both WHM and Cpanel? I'm reading docs now, but I'd like you to step back and tell me the "big picture". I think maybe whm is the overall manager while cpanel is used in each account? Is cpanel copied automatically to each new account or do I need to propagate it? How are new accounts accessed without a static ip before they resolve to my nameservers?

I'm an old, dos (doesn't refer to "denial of service") dinosaur. I was very happy at the dos prompt. The first lan I designed used "arcnet" as a topology. I was a member of compuserve in 1982. I lost touch with computers about 1992. Windows 3.1 was new. It is fair to say "I'm out of touch". Don't ever hesitate to tell me what you think I don't know. Don't underestimate my ignorance.

The list of 7 themes you are seeing are for WHM, rather than Cpanel.

WebHostManager is a tool for resellers to use to create/modify domain accounts
Cpanel is a tool for end users to modify/control/manage domain accounts

Any site can be viewed prior to propagation via the following url:

http://yourIP/~username/

If you need the theme changed on an account, you will need to terminate the account and recreate.....this is a really big hassle, so just contact us and we will fix it for you.

You can create another package with the blue lagoon theme and upgrade your account to that package.
