I have a host right now but there are some problems with them since they moved to their new server farm. Site is up and down for one week. I can be patient but my visitors are writing very rude/embarrasing emails to me.

So lets see, right now i have a cpanel account with the old host and am used to it but since my site is not commercial (non-profit) i would prefer the standard hosting account as its less expensive.

With the standard hosting account do you offer the following :-

1) Multi Domain feature.

2) What if i want to upgrade if my site grows, how much would you charge or how would you adjust for it?

3) What if i want to cancel my hosting account with you, how would you adjust that ?

4) I went through your AUP terms. What if someone complains about a copyright information for example on your customers account. Would you terminate the account immediatly or tell the customer to remove it themselves first before you take any action. I prefer that no hosting company remove anything from my site but i would co-operate with them anyway. Since i am afraid my competitors might use cheap tactics to hurt me by complaining wrongly to my host or anything. But in any case, i prefer the host forward any sort of complain to me first by giving me any deadline of a day or two.

I would appreciate if the administrator/owner (Danny or anyone else) answers my questions. There have been good reputation about this host on WHT.

Thanks.

Thanks for taking time to write SK

Let me see if I can set a few things straight

1. Standard hosting does not allow the use of multiple domains, unless they point to the same webpage...for example domain aliasing.

2. If your site outgrows your current package, you may upgrade at any time. As we only do monthly billing, we just adjust your package and charge you the difference. There are no penalties for upgrading.

3. If you cancel your account with us, because as stated above with monthly billing, we just stop the billing of your credit card at the next billing cycle.

4. We have yet to immediately terminate any account without providing warning/opportunity for the site owner to correct problems. We will typically automatically suspend sites if there is a demonstrable proof of spamming until we can contact the site administrator. This usually occurs because the customer/site owner most often is continuing to send out spams and this is the most effecient way of stopping spamming and avoiding any further damage to the host.

Copywritten materials is another subject, however. As long as there is no harm being done and no direct court orders to the fact, we will give you an opportunity to remove material that violates the terms. However, be aware that we do not condone the posting of copywritten materials for which you do not own the copyrights.

Thank you again for your inquiry and we look forward to serving you.

Thanks for the informative reply.

I am un-clear about the violation fees of 250 and 500 dollars ?

The reason i am asking is because my site is based on members submitting articles as well as message boards and some info regarding many other aspects. Recently some members submitted an article which was copyrighted. After the site got updated in google, the original owner of that article contacted me and i removed it at the same time.

Kindly explain the above fees to me please. I dont want to be charged when i am fully co-operating with the administration.

<edit>

By asking these questions, i'm following the advise of Mr. Steve, owner of geekvillage forums.

The intent of these fees is to provide some recourse against, mostly spammers, that come, signup for an account, do an incredible amount of damage and then cancel their account. It is not my intent to charge these fees to anyone, but sometimes policies like these must be put into place to protect the company. Issues like the ones you are speaking of don't cause me the same level of concern.
