I keep getting this error (http://www.gamebunker.com/nickstuff/error.txt) when I try to install Ikonboard. (Too many characters to post)

Is a file corrupt in mySQL?

This is most likely the result of a bad sql import file or the file being too large to upload/import in the manner you are attempting.

I would strongly recommend that you consider a different alternative to the forum that you are currently attempting to install. The one you have selected is known to be very rough on the server from a resource usage perspective. I would recommend either vB, Invisionboard or phpBB2. The later 2 can be installed for you automatically on cpanel servers via the Fantastico Autoinstaller.

hmm, I had no idea that Ikon was such a "Resource Hog."

Well go figure, I think I'll stick to Invisionboard then.

Most boards that are cgi/perl based are considered to be much more resource heavy than the php equivalents. If you have any problems getting Invisionboard working, let us know.

Nah, Invision is a piece of cake.

Thanks for the information...

God no. Ikonboard....oh man. What a piece of crap. We used to use that until I finally "convinced"(it was more like - "I'm doing this, ikonboard and you be ****ed!") the site director that vBulletin was much better. But really, almost anything (maybe even UBB) is better than ikonboard. That thing is so riddled with bugs, poor feature implementation, and resource hogging wastes of time...ugh. One thing that made me scream in pain was the fact that whenever someone makes a post, it recounts EVERY forum's post counts and reply counts on the main page. EVERY SINGLE POST! ARGH!

We used to entertain ourselves by making empty threads. I forgot how you did it, but it was possible to make a thread and have it be empty, but still be listed. There would be no first post. Whoever replied showed up as the first post in the thread, but not the author. It led to some interesting confusion :)
