Our server's been rather sluggish for the past half an hour or so...

Sorry it took so long to get to this Rod... I don't usually check the message board for support requests but have the helpdesk monitored pretty close. I'll have to have Danny smack you around a bit for this :)

Anyway, can you be more specific than "rather sluggish"? Are ping times slow? Have you run a tracert to the server IP?

edit: Oh, and is the server still sluggish for you?

It cleared up maybe 10-20 minutes after posting this...the whole server was just unresponsive. I couldn't even log in via SSH to check the load averages and such.

Next time you experience this, please submit a helpdesk ticket along with a traceroute and we should be able to service the issue a little better

That is kind of strange urth as you, Rod, these forums and our site are on different servers in different data centers. Local problem possibly?

Others were experiencing it as well. Some are in Canada, others are in Finland, and I'm in Atlanta, so it wasn't local ;)

That's what I found curious though. Right after the problem on our server fixed itself, I couldn't access these forums. I determined the problem with *these forums* to be a local issue as I was the only one trying to get on them...apparently that wasn't the case...odd.

I think I have concluded that Rod's problem was due to a user who was using excess resources on his server. Apparently the user had installed some new software and it was consuming too many mysql connections. I can reveal the name of the customer if Rod really wants me to. ;)

But remember these forums are about 1000 miles away from your server. But seriously, there were some issues with this server as well over the last couple of days, atleast one of which is posted in the status info above.
