View Full Version : Ways to get Community Involved...

Hey everyone! I've noticed that people rarely ever post in these forums... and it kind of bugs me. So, I've been thinking... what can we do to get fellow hostees/guests to use the forums more? I mean, they're a great source for information/fun, so why not use them? There are enough sections to satisfy everyone, right?

So, any ideas on what we could do to get them more active? *The question is directed to everyone - Members, Admins, etc.*

Maybe I should just let it go... but I'd rather try, and hopefully see this community grow a bit.

:)

i'd think that the best way to do it isto start topics on say details and likings, like fav band or fav music and so on i will be doing so after this post.

I have already made numerous topics... it's just that... not many clients visit these forums. So it seems.

Aww, thanks! - Appreciate it :)

For real though, I have suggested to Danny that from now on when someone signs up for hosting, the welcome message should include a little blurb about the forums being a great place to gather/talk/seek help/etc.

He thinks it's a good idea as well, although I am not sure if he has added the message yet...

i think one of the reason y this forum is so NOT active is that we don't have that many problems? which is a good news isn't it? :) also i always send support tickets or use live chat whenever i have problem, thats y

In the future, when AOH got more and more clients, then maybe this forum will become more active ;)

True... maybe I shouldn't hope that... so that the servers don't fill up too much :p

Anyhow, I'm glad that not many people have problems... but there still is this Off-Topic forum, WebDevelopment forum, etc.
-Maybe we should add a couple other forum sections? I dunno.

Give it time, Nemesis. You can pretty much count on me to read every new post every day. I won't always respond, but I shall be in the area.

I have my forums that I visit already and I honestly don't need that much more. I just ran out of things to do today (also wanted to post about that other host trying to get me to switch). However, the only time I ever posted on my previous hosts forums was because I couldn't get answers from their ticket system (took forever). Here, I don't have that problem since I ask something in a ticket and it's answered in like 5 minutes.

Anyway, you could always run promotions through the board. "First five people to post in this thread get a free account for 30 seconds!" haha

To be honest I'd forgotten about these forums. How about if you sent emails out every so often to remind forgetful people like me? Or how about a monthly/quarterly newsletter to let us know what's new, what's happening etc?

Carolyn - my regards to thee & Joel & Chelsea.

My youngest grandchild (Kiana) is 2. My youngest great-grandchild (Imiko) is 7.

What went right, I wonder?

Actually we did a newsletter about 3 weeks ago Carolyn. However, I am not sure if it is yours or another member of your staff in our system for the email contact. Email me the emails that should get them and I will add them to the list.

Hmm... well... on a different note, the community sure has gotten a lot more involved with these forums since I posted this topic. So... yay! Keep it up! :wavey:

Nemisis,

Need to understand that I come here to learn. Learn = Listen. When I'm posting, I not learning so much. I might be one of the worst lurkers here. But I need to learn a LOT!!

Personally, I've found that I learn a lot by posting questions, even potentially stupid and embarrassing ones :D

I'm not afraid of asking stupid questions. Search my nick on this board and you'll see the truth of that! However.....

Most of you are so knowlegable about the subject matter that you'll answer a question like "How do I drive a nail?" with an answer like "Well, hit it with a hammer."

What I do then is hit my roofing nail with a sledge hammer!!! Or beat a lumber spike with a tack hammer!!

In other words, I need enough background knowlege to ask a question that you can answer. To get that background knowledge, I read. And read. Search google, and read some more. Lurk on this board, that board, and several others. Then when I know that what I have is a 10 penny nail, I'll know you mean that I should drive it with a framing hammer.
