e107 seems to be the fastest.... http://www.e107.org
as well as the easiest to set up...
depends on what you want to do with it!
personally, I'm using Postnuke currently just because of the vast variety of modules and hacks and etc.. for it...
but I intend to move to Xaraya (http://www.xaraya.com) as soon as I learn its api, just because it would appear more flexible, better internally organized, and i like the folks developing it... but it is by no means simple...

Here's a link I've found recently:
http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.php
I'd sure like to see more discussion because I'm not looking to design a 20,000 hit/day portal. Just want to automate updates to my static, info site. :D

Conan,
What have you learned in the last 3 months??
I've become interested in Mambo:
Mambo Open Source (http://www.mamboserver.com)
There is also a commercial version. Docs seem pretty good, and they have a fairly active support forum.

I have to agree with datagram, e107 works wonderfully right out the gate.

I have discovered a client side CMS. It stores the site in an Access database on your local hard disk and produces a straight html site. It would be good for a personal blog site or a news site. It is template based with a scripting language for producing menu links.
It is called City Desk.
