I'm trying to download a copy of the structure and data in our database (mySQL) for backup and am having some problems. Everytime I download it, in zip or gzip format, I end up with an empty file. An error message came up one time, something along the lines of the file hadn't been closed off properly???
I have no idea why this isn't working? Help please!
Thanks

Before trying to fix Cpanel ;)
Try use phpMyAdmin
Its in the MYSQL databases menu of Cpanel.

Just a thought here to guide the responses back to the right track. If you are referring to the url posted in your profile parent-world.com, then you are using an Ensim control panel rather than Cpanel.
Now on to the direct question. The vbulletin control panel doesn't do a very good job of backing up large databases. Your best option would be to submit a support ticket for a full backup to be placed in your directory for download. Or, if you will be doing this on a frequent regular basis (which you should be doing), please contact support so we can arrange an easier method for you.

Sorry I didn't realise there was another way of accessing the database. Which username/password do I use? The same one as through the Ensim panel?? I ask because that one isn't working....??

I think we may have gotten our wires crossed here. Where are you trying to use the username/password that isn't working?
