Is that too much load to ask of the servers?

Just thinking of a sound snippets page and was wondering if things like LAME/mpg123 was available on the servers.

This is something we should really be doing offline and then uploading. The performance effects of a task like this isn't really something that is "necessary" in a webhosting environment.

Agreed ;) Just the assumed intelligence of users isn't high enough to know how... hehe

Gonna figured out a java applet to do it all or something.

Was just hopeful.
