I am having bad problems with Outlook Express 6. When I first open OE, it stays open for about 2 or 3 seconds, and then shuts down. When I reopen it, OE will not download any of my emails. I have to go to Comcast.mail in order to read or send any emails.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, can you tell me how to remedy the problem. I'm at my wits end.

Are there any error messages given when it crashes? What about when it attempts to download messages the second time you open OE? What version OS are you using?

Also, try deleting the email account and close OE, then open it again and try adding account back. Another idea is to make sure you have the newest update of OE possible.

Options of not getting this fixed, using OUTLOOK, or Thunderbird (Mozillia) as replacement programs.

Hope this helps, let me know further info as you have it and i will research further.

For some peculiar reason, Outlook Express has begun downloading emails this morning, but I'm still having the same problem (most of the time) when I open OE.
There is no error message. It just simply opens up, then shuts down a few seconds later. After I open it again, there is no error message either. Some times it downloads the emails, and other times it does not.

When you ask for my Operating System, I hope that you mean "Windows XP Home, with SP 2. The version of OE is 6.00.29002180.

I hope that you will pardon my dumb questions, because I am 71 years old, and don't think as well as I did when I was younger. Some times I can't even understand simple things, so I usually ask someone who is helping me to give me instructions in easy step-by-step-instruction.

If you need any additional information, please let me know.

I'm still having the same problem with Outlook Express 6. I've even done a complete full system recovery on my computer, and then, even though I have a computer running Windows XP Home SP2, I purchased the Windows XP Home Edition upgrade disk, and installed it.
Outlook Express still does the same thing. When I open OE after a cold boot, it opens up, and as soon as I move my mouse cursor over it, OE shuts down immediately. Then I have to open it up again. This time it stays open and I can download my emails.
Does anyone have a solution for me. I'm getting desperate.
