We are very excited to announce that our company has continued to grow and develop. Due to this growth, it has become necessary for us to physically relocate our servers within the NYC datacenter due to space restrictions. We are not leaving the datacenter, but rather simply moving to a new cabinet location within the datacenter to accommodate our current stock of servers and allow for future growth. In the days leading up to this move, we will be having a separate outage so that we can have the datacenter replicate our network in the new location so that downtime for customers will be at a minimum during the move. I’m sure many of you have many questions, and I’ll try to answer the most common ones here.

1. Why the move?
a. We’ve simply outgrown our current cabinet location and it has become necessary to move to a new cabinet to accommodate all of the servers we have in place at the NYC datacenter
2. When do you think you’ll have to do this again?
a. The plan is to not have to do this again. We’re relocating with future growth in mind and are moving to a location that will allow us to expand into other cabinets without having to relocate servers in the future.
3. How long will my site be down?
a. The scheduled total outage window is 7pm to 11pm EST and we hope to accomplish all of the moves in this 4-hour window, though it may run longer. We hope to keep the downtime per server to 30 minutes; however, in all cases this may not be possible.
4. What steps are you taking to make this as painless as possible?
a. We are having the datacenter preemptively replicate the network so our IP’s will already be in the new location, which will allow us to bring servers up much more quickly and have shorter downtimes per server than would otherwise be possible.
b. While we can never positively guarantee the integrity of customer data and ask that everyone maintain a backup of their site on their home or office computer, we will have cpanel-generated backups of all sites from the night prior to the move.
5. Who is doing the moves?
a. Danny and I are making the trek to New York to handle the moves personally.
6. Will support be available during the moves?
a. We will have someone dedicated to answering support tickets, however, they will not have specific ETA’s on specific server moves.

If you have any questions please email us at support@alphaomegahosting.com.

An update, the scheduled outage is going as planned and will start within the next 15 minutes with servers going down as directed in the first posting of this thread and emails sent to the effected customers.

The server which houses our support center will be the first one moved and be up and running prior to any other servers being moved, to help with any problems that might occur.

Again if you are unable at any time to place a ticket for a problem, please post here as directed in the main part of this thread.

Any questions, I am available by all methods stated earlier. Thank you for your patience and understand.
