My new ISP was nice enough to flush his DNS cache just for me. And this for a $10/month acount. You just gotta love the people in Hawaii.

The flush seems to have solved my dns problems, at least for now.

The General Support forum here is turning into a "must-read" for me. Very educational.

I am browsing this forum right now with OffByOne, a browser that fits on a 3 1/2" floppy! No pop-ups because no Java.

My new ISP sometimes tracks at 38Kbps & at other times, 53.3Kbps. My modem is 56K which [so I've been told] just ain't all that fast. If anyone knows about this stuff, please illuminate this unwashed mendicant.

Aloha, Bellgamin

You've got to take the bitter with the sour.
PS - This browser totally freaked out right now, when I tried to put in a smilie. Sheesh -- what is a smilie, anyway? Some kind of weird cyber-suppository or something? OffByOne is still quivering & whimpering.

Use Opera. You can enable/disable popups very easy.

Use Opera?!! I have been using Opera [bought & paid for] since way back before Al Gore invented the internet.

I have 6.05, eagerly awaiting 7.0, which is due in a few months.

I use OffByOne once in a while because it's fun to play with. I am a download junkie. Own 7 different browsers.

Hey, it's good to know there is a fellow-Opera-user on these boards. Now... switch your eMail client to Calypso and you will be like my cat, Tora --- purrrfect. :D

Aloha from Hawaii, Bellgamin

bellgamin,

If you like small things that are free try out QNX's Operating System on a floppy. It has modem support for connecting to the internet, plus a browser and a game's through in to boot lol

http://www.qnx.com/demodisk/download/modem.html

Should you hard drives fail and you need to get online to read webmail or whatever, simply stick the floppy in and boot your computer. You will need to know your ISP's TCP/IP primary and secondary DNS IP addresses. :)

There's also a network version available for anyone who's interested :D

Yah, Mozilla is good. I just couldn't get it to fully stabilize on my box.

Where:
M=Mozilla
N=Netscape
K=Kmeleon
B=Useless Bloat

Then
M = N - .5B
And
K = N - .99B

See gecko's lair...
