Angry Trojan horse

Hi im new here, and i dont know alot about computers i was given mine a few months ago, but it was infected!! im not sure how long it has been like this as none of the antivirus software picked it up. but it kept crashing, changing browser options, placing porn icons on my desktop!! so i knew it was infected. i have tried many options that evry1 has sugested but im still having trouble. and the more i seem to delete, and reboot. the more infected files i get!! heres a glance at wot avg says my pc is infected with:
Downloader.small6.l
Dialer.9.n, 9.bu, 10.z
downloader purity scan
downloader.dyfica2 aa, ab ,ac
downloader agent.as
downloader lstbar3.bq, 4h
backdoor agent 2h
startpage
clicker t

I feel like im stuck in a sewage with a load of dirty rats!! as most of these infections play about with my pc, which is very annoying!! i have now been on the web for three weeks constantly looking for a solution, and it seems that theres not an easy one!! so if any one can give me some advice, I will be very gr8ful! mj

Lightbulb AVG, Spybot, Ad Aware SE - all the tools you'll ever need

Hi everyone

1st of all AVG doesn't scan your whole computer . If you want it to test every single file you need to first enable it (right-click on system tray icon, Run AVG Anti-virus, Service menu, Complete Test Settings, check 'Test All Extensions').

If a virus is reported in System Volume Information etc (WinXP) your easiest and best bet to get rid of it (as said by someone earlier) is to temporarily disable System Restore (right-click My Computer and then click on properties, then click on System Restore tab). Just click 'Turn off System Restore', then apply, wait a bit then uncheck 'Turn off....' and click ok. This will clear the contents of the _restore directory (including any nasties), I've just removed Dyfica.2.R this way.

Also said by someone earlier, Spybot and Adaware when run together (one after the other), should be enough to clean all the crap from your machine.

If AVG can't get rid of certain files, note their location and remove them from within Safe Mode (continuously press F8 when PC 1st boots). You may have to change folder view settings (open My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, Show Hidden... Hide protected....)

Start -> Run -> type 'msconfig' -> press enter

Use the Startup tab to diagnose any problems with programs that run at startup. Many viruses and spyware can be seen from here and it's safe for less-savvy users to make changes because they are easily reversed as opposed to registry editing (can't be used in Win95/NT and 2k).

I assume you meant that you can't use MSCONFIG in 2k, and not registry editing. If that's what you meant, there's a little utility that allows you to "access" MSCONFIG.

I thought I could attach it here but I guess I can't.
MSCONFIG.EXE is the utility
